From September 24 to 25, the 5th International Taoism Forum was held at Maoshan in Jiangsu Province, hosted by the China Taoist Association and the Chinese Religious Culture Exchange Association, with co-organization from the Hong Kong Taoist Association, Macao Taoist Association, and Taiwan Chinese Taoist Association. As the largest and most influential international cultural exchange event in the Taoist community, it attracted over 500 participants, including representatives from Taoist circles, experts, and scholars from nearly 40 countries and regions. Tangneng Translation primarily provided translation support for the event.
With the theme "Upholding Tao and Virtue, Walking with the World," the forum was held in Maoshan, Jiangsu—the birthplace of the Shangqing School of Taoism. Boasting rich historical relics and cultural sites, Maoshan is honored as the "First Blessed Land and Eighth Grotto Heaven" in Taoism. The forum comprised main activities such as the opening ceremony, the founding conference of the World Taoist Federation, a main forum, a TV forum, two new media forums, five sub-forums, and a closing ceremony, as well as events like prayer rituals and Tao culture exhibitions. The sub-forums deliberated on topics including Taoism’s contemporary value, inheritance and innovation, international practices, global dissemination, talent cultivation, and healthy living.
Currently, apart from China, Taoist organizations have been established in nearly 40 countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan, the UK, France, and Italy, while Taoist temples have been built in Thailand, Vietnam, Australia, the US, Canada, and other nations. The World Taoist Federation, established during this forum, holds symbolic significance for promoting international Taoist exchanges and cooperation and building new platforms. Fifty-two Taoist organizations from 20 countries and regions became its founding institutional members.
