From December 5th to 6th, 2019, a meeting of the Glocalization Organization of Asia Pacific (GoAP) was held in Gangnam District, Seoul. Ms. Su Yang, General Manager of Tangneng Translation Company and a member of the association, attended this meeting.
GoAP (Globalization and Localization Organization of Asia Pacific) seeks to promote the development of globalization and localization technologies in Asia, Oceania, and the Asia-Pacific region. Its members are translation companies and translation technology companies from the Americas, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region, aiming to help translation and translation technology companies in the Asia-Pacific region go global and promote cooperation between Asia-Pacific companies and European and American companies.
GoAP organizers believe that many language technologies currently originate from Europe, particularly Eastern Europe, while Asia, Oceania, and the Asia-Pacific region have a huge talent base and expertise, which can be used to develop the next generation of language technologies to compete in the global market. In today's localization and language industry, there is a lack of organizations acting as bridges between Western companies and APAC companies, and the establishment of GoAP has filled this gap.
The Founder and CEO of Smartling, as the Keynote Speaker, discussed his views on the growth strategies and opportunities in the globalization and localization industry, as well as how technology will impact the industry. The speakers at the conference addressed topics such as "Localization in the 'Information 4.0' Era: Changing Rules and Breaking Barriers," "The European Translation Industry: Markets, Regulations, and Opportunities," "Liberalization and Facilitation of Trade and Communication in the ASEAN Economy," and "How to Conduct Business in the U.S., Europe, and Asia," among others.
By participating in this conference, Tangneng Translation has expanded its understanding of the industry and market. Over the 17 years since its establishment, Tangneng Translation Company has primarily served overseas companies' in-China institutions or overseas companies planning to enter or already entering the Chinese market, such as BASF, Evonik, Volkswagen, BMW, Gartner, etc. In recent years, an increasing number of its clients have been Chinese companies with overseas business operations or those planning to and in the process of going global. Therefore, as a top 30 language service provider in the Asia-Pacific region, Tangneng Translation aims to strengthen communication with European and American counterparts to exchange more international and localization experiences. It also hopes that GoAP will be held in China as soon as possible, bringing more fresh insights.
