On May 17, 2025, the first "Film and Television Translation and International Communication Capacity Renewal Workshop" officially commenced at the National Multilingual Film and Television Translation Base (Shanghai) located in Shanghai International Media Port. Ms. Su Yang, General Manager of Tangneng Translation, was invited to attend the event, joining experts from various fields to discuss cutting-edge trends in film and television translation and international communication.
The two-day workshop, guided by the National Multilingual Film and Television Translation Base and the China Translators Association, was co-hosted by institutions including the Film and Television Translation and Production Center of China Media Group (CMG) and the Film and Television Translation Committee of the China Translators Association. Focused on "Building New Productive Forces for Film and Television Globalization," it aimed to explore the construction and innovative practice of a discourse system for international film and television communication in the new era, boost the high-quality "going global" of Chinese film and television content, and enhance the international influence of Chinese culture.
During the event, experts and scholars from central media, international organizations, and industry frontiers shared multiple keynote lectures with over 40 participants, covering topics such as "Fourteen Years of Practice and Reflection on Friendly Film and Television Communication," "Cross-Cultural Storytelling: The Narrative Approach of Discovery Channel," "Maximizing Human-Machine Collaboration in Film and Television Translation," "Practice in Building FAST Overseas Channels," "Key Factors in Film and Television Translation and International Communication in the New Era," and "From 'Surface Entertainment' to 'In-Depth Appreciation'—International Communication Strategies for CMG's Spring Festival Gala Specials." These lectures combined theoretical depth with practical insights.
In addition to sharing and exchanges, participants collectively visited the "Golden Box," a state-level key laboratory for ultra-high-definition audio-visual production and presentation, and the National Multilingual Film and Television Translation Base at Shanghai International Media Port, gaining on-site insights into AI-empowered film and television translation processes.
