With a history of more than 100 years, Santen is the leading manufacturer of ophthalmic medicine in Japan. Since 1988, the company has been exporting products to the Chinese market through its agent stores. In 1995, it set up the Asian business division, and representative offices in Beijing in the same year, Guangzhou in 2000, and Shanghai in 2005. Now, its market share of synthetic antibacterial eye drops in Chinese hospitals has reached 35%.
